So this is probably one of my favorite days during Holy Week! We get to be secret agent spies for Jesus on this day! The boys love it! This year we invited our friends to join us in finding the missing silver coins that Judas took to betray Jesus and hand him over to the Roman Guards! Sometimes I just think, "What was he thinking!!" Here is this man who has had a first hand account of all the miraculous things that Jesus did on earth and he wants to hand him over to be killed! For 30 pieces of Silver, which was equivalent to a month's wages for an unskilled laborer! I mean seriously what in the world was he thinking! He sat with Jesus, he walked with Jesus, he heard Him teach, he saw Him heal!! What would make him turn Jesus over for a mere months wages?
So, on Wednesday we hide eggs all over the place and I give the boys clues to find them! After we get them all we count our coins and then we go and give them money back to Jesus at our church! It was fun having our friends come and join us on our secret spy mission! After all the kids counted their coins, I started to worry that some of the kids might not understand fully what we were doing and they might be upset because they got nothing out of the whole egg hunt! I was kind of starting to panic, but can I say that there was not one complaint! They were all so willing to give all of their coins that they found! They were cheerful givers! It was awesome to see!
