Ash Wednesday

For the past 6 years we as a family have celebrated the Lenten season. We do this not for a religious thing we do it for a personal reason. We as a family have chosen to fix our eyes on our maker and choose for the next 40 days to prepare our hearts for Easter. We do this in many different ways. This year we decided to make a lent calendar. We used hard black clay to shape into little black cups. The black clay represents us our sin. It reminds us that He is the one who is shaping us, He is the one who formed us. Not one of the cups is a like. He made us just like that, each one of us is different, and each one of us has a different purpose and job to do for His kingdom. Each day we will put one rock into the center of a cup. The rock is Jesus. He is our rock, he is at the very center of us, He is our foundation, He is our strength. It so symbolizes the tomb He was put in. And how the rock was rolled away. Then on Easter morning we will light the candle to signify He is risen just like he said. He is the light of the work and we are suppose to let our lights shine before men!! It was so fun to make with the boys. And it's been fun putting in our rocks each day and doing our devotion.

Trying to form this clay. It was super tough!

We are trying to make some "ashes" for Ash Wednesday out of chalk.

Usually you use the ashes of the palm leaves from the previous year, but we use gray chalk!!

This is our prayer cross for the 40 days of lent.

My sweet boy with their ashen cross.

I couldn't find Jett anywhere. He was in my bathroom making his game face.

Somehow it snowed that night!! Crazy Oklahoma weather. I love my little batman looking at the snow.

Here are our clay cups we made.
