"Say to the Daughter of Zion, 'See, your king comes to you, gentle and riding on a donkey, on a colt, the foal of a donkey.' The disciples went and did as Jesus had instructed them. They brought the donkey and the colt, placed their cloaks on them, and Jesus sat on them. A very large crowd spread their cloaks on the road, while others cut branches from the trees and spread them on the road. The crowds that went ahead of him and those that followed shouted, "Hosanna to the Son of David!" "Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord!" "Hosanna in the highest!"
Matthew 21:5-9
So Sunday began the start of the Holy Week. I had a realization that I have so many Christmas traditions with my boys, and I hardly have any for Easter! Considering the meaning, purpose , and plan for Easter, I decided it was time to have more Easter Traditions.
So starting this year the Gassid household will be experiencing the Holy Week. We will talk about it, we will act it out, we will read about it, and we will do crafts that go along with it. I want my boys to not just know about their Savior, I want them to experience Him.
So Yesterday was Palm Sunday. What a glorious sight it must have been for the Israelites to see Jesus, the Chosen One, riding in on a donkey. I was telling the boys how exciting it must have been for them to see Jesus. I asked Jaxson, what would you do if Jesus walked through our door and into our house right now??? His response was, "Is He really coming over today??" I told him that He is here, we might not see Him, but He is here. Jax said, "But I want Him to come over!" I told Him that the Bible says when two or three pray to Him, He is there in our midst! So after that he dropped it.
Then we learned about Palm Sunday, and how the Israelites got Palm leaves and were waving them around praising Jesus! So I gave both boy their own palm leaves and we turned on some praise music and we danced and ran around the house shouting, "Hosanna!" It was so much fun, it made me understand the greatness of it. How amazing it must have been to be there in His presence, to see Him face to face. Jantzen loved the Palm leaves. I think he made the most laps around the house. It was so precious to see this little 2 year old running around the house shouting, "Hosanna!"
My heart says of you, "Seek his face!" Your face, LORD, I will seek.
