So Thursday was the day that Jesus and His disciples had the Last Supper! I thought it might be neat for us to also celebrate the last supper. Next year I want to incorporate all of the different foods, but this year we just did the traditional unleavened bread and grape juice. Jaaf's mom came in town that day, so she was able to celebrate it with us. I made the unleavened bread, which wasn't all that bad and we had special cups that resembled the ones used in Bible Times.
Jaaf read to the boys why we eat the bread, and what it symbolizes, and why we drink the wine/grape juice. Jaxson didn't want to try the grape juice, I think he couldn't stop thinking about how it symbolizes Christ's blood! It was pretty cute!
"While they were eating, Jesus took bread, gave thanks and broke it, and gave it to his disciples, saying, "Take and eat; this is my body." "Then he took the cup, gave thanks and offered it to them, saying, "Drink from it, all of you. This is my blood of the covenant, which is poured out for many for the forgiveness of sins. I tell you, I will not drink of this fruit of the vine from now on until that day when I drink it anew with you in my Father's kingdom."
Matthew 26:26-29
