Swimming Lessons

So about two weeks ago we started Jaxson with his first real swimming lessons! Jaxson loves the water just like I do, so we thought he would just have the best time ever! The first day was not so much fun!!! I was under the impression that I would be able to get into the water with him. Well we found out shortly after arriving that I would not be able to swim with him! If you know my Jaxson, you know that he is a very structured boy. He enjoys making lists and enjoys even more sticking to the list! This little bump in his list threw him off! He was not happy and threw a fit that would make a two year old proud! I understood he was afraid, but also knew that the tantrum was not called for! We had a long talking to and told Jaxson that we want him to go back and try it. We had a few devotions about fear and how we have nothing to fear because God is always with us! We prayed and read scriptures and prepared him for his next day! I also told him that we need to learn to swim on our own without floaties so that we can go swim with the dolphins! If you have read any of the other posts, Jaxson made a list of things he wanted to do and swimming with the dolphins came after he wanted to go and visit Heaven! We went the next day and he did great! He was scared, but he tried everything at least once! He jumped into the water and the teacher asked him if he wanted to do it again and he said, “No thanks!” Each day has just gotten better! He was floating by himself today and swimming with a noodle by himself!! It is so awesome to see your children go through mini struggles and learn how to persevere! At the end of each class Jaxson says, “I am getting closer to swimming with the dolphins!!” I can’t wait until the day that I can take him to go do that! Here are some pics of him swimming!

This is Jax waiting in line to jump into the pool. He had a class with two other girls and one other boy. The boy was a bit aggressive and kept trying to push the other kids into the pool. The girl who is standing in front of Jaxson asked Jax if he would protect her from the other boy. Jaxson stretched his little arms out and would move right to left not allowing the boy to push her. It was such a sweet thing to watch my big guy protect this little girl!!!

Jaxson was a very good listener and did everything the teacher told him!

He loved floating on his back!
