On December 30th, Jaxson's 6th birthday, we had our first BIG scare with Jett! I would like to consider myself a seasoned parent since I do have three children, but my third precious baby boy has thrown me for a loop! I am in constant awe of how little I do know or how the Lord is keeping me in a constant state of prayer for my children! Just when I think I have it all together, or things are going pretty well, the Lord allows something to happen to remind me, He is in control, and it is Him who holds these precious little boys in His hand!
December 30th, Jaaf, Jax, Jantz, and I were out celebrating Jaxson! My parents were watching Jett for us so we could enjoy a fun night at the Incredible Pizza Company! I looked down and noticed I missed a few calls from my mom. When I called her she let me know that Jett had thrown up a few times. Earlier that day I had given Jett soy formula for the first time. (His doctor wanted me to get off all dairy for a while to see if Jett might be allergic to dairy, I figured mom and dad would be watching Jett, so I figured I needed to get him some non-dairy formula!) I figured the soy just didn't set well with him. Then my mom called back and said he was throwing up more! (Jett does not throw up or even spit up, so for him to throw up this many times in a short period of time, I started to worry.) She also said he looked pretty pale and lathargic. We decided to go home and check him out and take him to an after hours clinic. It was a long ride home and I was anxious to look at my baby.
The second we got home I ran in and took one look at him and knew we needed to get to the ER immediately. He was grey and not really moving. My mom had freezing cold wash cloths on him to keep him awake, but it was not working. I was a little panicked, ok maybe a lot panicked. We rushed to the ER, I was just praying over him like crazy the whole drive! He threw up a few more times, and then we finally got there. We checked in and waited for about 20 min. Jaaf and I had him naked with cold wash cloths all over him and he could not keep his eyes awake. I finally asked the front nurse to please come look at my baby. She immediately grabbed him and called for a bed to be opened. She kept asking me if I gave him benedryl to make him this drowsy, or if he hit his head and might have a concussion. As she was taking him back she was pretty rough with him, so I asked if I could hold him until we got to the room, and she said, "No, mam, I am trying to get him to respond to me!" It was at that point that I really started to wonder if there was something more wrong with him. They laid him naked on the hospital bed and about 5 nurses and doctors started to hook him up to all sorts of machines. They were poking him and moving him in every which way to get him to respond. They even stuck a huge thermometer in his bottom, and he just laid there motionless, with his eyes open, but no movement, no crying, no nothing! The nurse just kept saying, "A baby this age should be screaming bloody murder that this many people are touching and poking him in a bright steril room." They checked his vitals, and they were good. So the doctor wanted us to just stay put for a while to see if it was a reaction to the soy. Jett was dehydrated and he needed fluids. The doctors did not want to have to do it through IV, because babies at that age don't do well with IV's. We tried for 3 hours to get him to nurse and to get him to drink pedilite. He had no energy to suck, so we just squeezed the pedilite in his mouth. He threw up a couple more times and then just fell asleep. We tried our hardest to get him to stay awake, but he just couldn't do it any more. He kept squeezing little bits of pedilite into his mouth while he slept, hoping he could get some fluids in him. I don't think we ever stopped praying the whole time we were there. As our sweet little Jett laid in Jaaf's arms limp, all of sudden he just started sucking on the bottle. His eyes were closed, but he ended up drinking the full 2 oz of the bottle! Praise the Lord!! About an hour after that his grey skin started to show some color, and his white lips were turning back to a pale pink!! I was overwhelmed with joy, and so so thankful! We ended up staying for an hour more just to keep a watch on him. The doctor believes it was a terrible allergic reaction to the soy. We asked fora blood test to see if he has food allergies, but they usually don't do them until age 1!
This whole experience was by far the scariest of all my 6 years of being a mommy. I felt so helpless and it was completely out of my hands! I was reminded of how fragile we are. I'm praising the Lord for protecting my sweet Jett and so so thankful he is doing much better!
Below are a few pics of him that day! We did not want to post any of the pics of him with his white little lips. It still makes me sick to my stomach when I see them!

Little Jett that afternoon, just a few hours before he got sick! Happy rosey cheek little baby!
This was after a lot of throwing up but before he became lethargic. I have more pics, I'll just have to post them later!!
