So this is always one of my favorite stories to do with my boys!! I feel like we could spend a month learning lessons from this one story! Now this story took place a day or few days before Jesus rode into Jerusalem. Here Mary washes Jesus' feet in preparation of his burial. Judas gets mad at her and says she should sell the perfume and give the money to the poor. Jesus quickly replies, “Leave her alone. She did this in preparation for my burial. You will always have the poor among you, but you will not always have me.”
So on this day I thought we would make some fun stepping stones that we will later put in our prayer garden that we dedicate to God! The boys helped stir the concrete mixture. We talked about how Jesus is our rock! He is our strong foundation! Just like the concrete! With Him we can not be shaken!! Then I let the boys put their feet in the dirty concrete! We talked about how back then there were no paved streets, no tennis shoes, so one of the most humble things you could do would be to wash someones feet! Mary's act of washing Jesus feet was to spend time at our Saviors feet, prepare Him for burial, and just to Worship her Savior who had brought her out of the depths! I had the boys take turn washing each others feet after they stepped in the concrete! (We also talked a little about how Jesus washed the disciples feet and how He did this as an example for us to follow! That He came to serve, so we should be serving one another!) We then poured out the concrete and started to decorate the stepping stone! The boys were so sweet and wanted to help each other! They came up with a plan to do a specific pattern and then to write Jesus in the middle of the stone!! I always love to watch my boys get along, work together, and help each other!! It is such an answer to prayer that they truly love each other and love being with each other!! It was a sweet time and now every time we look at these stepping stones we will remember the Holy Week that we made them!! I told the boys it is kind of like back in the old testament when God did something big the people would make an alter. Our stepping stone was like our alter to God thanking Him for our salvation!!

I gave the boys some perfume and cologne to smell so that we could squirt it into the concrete like Mary used on Jesus' feet!

An excellent example, Jennah. These stories, with action, will always be remembered by the boys. They are imbedded in their hearts, never to forget. I am so thankful for You and Jaaf in the examples you are setting. (Did I see some "funny feet" in one of the pictures??? Ha! Jaaf, I didn't believe you would get them.) Good for a laugh anyway and I'm sure they're comfy. God's Blessings, Gram/Ggram
