Palm Sunday

As he rode along, the crowds spread out their garments on the road ahead of him. When he reached the place where the road started down the Mount of Olives, all of his followers began to shout and sing as they walked along, praising God for all the wonderful miracles they had seen.

“Blessings on the King who comes in the name of the Lord. Peace in heaven, and glory in highest heaven!”
Luke 19:36-38
I have been anticipating this week for quite sometime now! As I start to think of new ideas for the boys to do that will express to them the importance of this week I get overwhelmed with emotions! Thankful, grateful, sad, joyful, happy, full of pain, peace, I could go on and on! So this week we are taking the time to experience first hand what Jesus did the week before His Death and Resurrection!
Today we celebrate Jesus' triumphant entry into Jerusalem! I love how he rode in on a donkey! The donkey represents so much, peace and humility! He wasn't riding in on a beautiful chariot adorned with jewels, no He came humbly and peacefully! I love especially this year because we have a donkey that lives in the field behind us! I love the donkey and look for him every day! I always think of Jesus when I see this donkey! I think it is pretty awesome that Mary rode on a donkey all the way the Bethlehem to deliver Jesus and he came in riding on a donkey!
So today here is what we did to remember Jesus on this Palm Sunday!
First we waved our palm branches around shouting Hosanna, which means, "Save Us!" Then we traced our hands and wrote down some things we might say if Jesus walked through our front door! Here is what some of the boys came up with! "Horray! King! Jump for Joy! YAY!! Thank you for saving us!! Cry!!"
Just thinking about Jesus walking in my front door made me start crying!!
The next thing we did was gather branches, rocks, and cut out images that reminded us of Jesus! We put it all together and made a Jesus Tree! The branches remind us of the cross he died on and the crown he wore for our sins! The Rocks remind us of the tomb He was put in and how three days later the angel rolled it away as He rose from the dead! The white ribbon used to hang our things reminds us that He came to give us forgiveness and new life! He washes us as white as snow! Jantzen also thinks the white reminds us of the angel!!!
So there was our Palm Sunday! A day of rejoicing our Savior!!
Jaxson found something great that reminded him of Jesus!!
Working hard on the Jesus Tree!!
Cutting out more things!!
Sitting by the Jesus tree they made!!
Waving their palm branches around!!
